5 Minute Avocado Smoothie

This avocado smoothie blends ripe avocado, banana, and milk into a thick, creamy drink with a texture closer to a milkshake than a typical fruit smoothie. The natural fats in avocado keep it satisfying for hours, while just a touch of honey balances the flavor without making it taste like dessert. Ready in five minutes flat, it is an easy way to start the day or refuel after a workout.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado halved and pitted
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup milk dairy or plant based
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract optional

Equipment

  • 1 High powered blender breaks down the avocado into a completely smooth texture
  • 1 Sharp knife for safely halving and pitting the avocado
  • 1 Spoon for scooping the ripe avocado flesh into the blender
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons for accurate liquid and sweetener amounts
  • 1 Tall glasses for serving the smoothie right after blending

Method

  1. Add milk, honey, and vanilla to the blender.
  2. Add the avocado flesh and banana.
  3. Add ice cubes on top.
  4. Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth.
  5. Adjust consistency with more milk or ice as needed.
  6. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a fully ripe avocado with bright green flesh for the smoothest texture and flavor.
  • Add liquid ingredients to the blender first for the smoothest, most even blend.
  • Serve immediately, since avocado begins to oxidize and dull in color within 15 to 20 minutes.
  • A high powered blender makes the biggest difference in achieving a silky texture with no graininess.
STORAGE: Best served fresh; refrigerate up to 24 hours in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed onto the surface.
